FWIW, matt, i half hate neil postman. a bit polemical in his stance…as you may or may not know, i did my senior thesis on the act/process of viewing television, and part of that included a major dis of some of the macluhan/postman shit, which is, well, sometimes too reductivist in its pose.
but anyway. just a note that as much as i may mourn his passing, it’s not like, say, john fiske or todd gitlin died today.
