Ravers Go To Hell!

If you do, you’ll be able to check out the inspirational message being spread by the folks at the Abundant Life Christian Center in Arvada, Colorado. According to the Denver Rocky Mountain News, the Christian Center sponsors their version of a haunted house combined with a morality play each Halloween. Hell House will feature a scene at a rave party where a church girl goes on a drug trip and dies.

According to Abundant Life associate pastor Keenan Roberts, "It will have a very dark feel. The music will be thumping. Everybody will be doing drugs." After the overdose death of the church girl, pastor Roberts says, "Bam! Things pick up and the party goes on." Other rooms at the Hell House will feature such scenes as the wedding of a gay couple, where the honeymoon bed is replaced by a death bed when one of the partners dies of AIDS a few years later. In another room, a young girl loses her virginity to her boyfriend and is informed by a demon tour guide that "The dog you just slept with is Prince HIV, and he doesn't even know it!" Last year’s themes included President Clinton and Monica Lewinsky and a teen gunman in a trench coat. Not as scary as Roddy McDowell, but close.

Suzanne Banning, executive director of the Colorado Legal Initiatives project, said to the Denver Rocky Mountain News, "It's tough to comment on something that's so ignorant. We see committed, monogamous relationships that deserve recognition and don't end up in the way this is portrayed – with death and destruction."

Hell House will open on the weekend of October 15th. Call 303-654-7625 for more information.
