Speaking out to silence critics who have snidely accused her of getting breast implants, the official 17-year-old Orlando pop princess, Britney Spears, has spoken to TV Guide and attributed her recent endowment to a "growth spurt."Taking herself very seriously, Britney sat down with the interviewer and put forth: "When I first signed with the record label, we took a lot of photos, and those were the pictures that got used," Spears says in the Oct. 9 issue of TV Guide. "I weighed 105 pounds; I weigh 130 now. I went through a major growth spurt."
Sounds like a growth spurt of 25 pounds; we pride ourselves on our mathematical backgrounds here at Soundproof. So that’s roughly 12 pounds per breast, by our calculations, leaving one extra pound for those young, blossoming hips. Pretty "major" growth spurt, Britney. For the record, bags of silicone can also weigh 12 pounds when sized accordingly, and can often be purchased with royalties from number-one singles.
The New York Daily News reported last April that Spears, who for numerous unfortunate reasons related to the workings of pop culture is something of a role model for teens, had undergone the enhancing surgery. Spears, at the time, refused to comment, but did say that she saw "nothing wrong" with the procedure, and in doing so offered support for thousands of women with low self-esteem. That’s a real role model, we grant you.
Fueled by this report and a subsequent series of revealing photos in Rolling Stone, reporters, when speaking with sweet, naïve Britney, would press her on the matter. "In some interviews I would just start crying," says Spears. "I'd be like, 'Why are you being so rude to me?' After a while people stopped saying stuff. But for a while it got really tough." Silicone also reportedly gets tough as it ages.
Whether or not the teenager has undergone surgery, Spears' debut album, … Baby One More Time, has been certified seven-times platinum, making it the best-selling album by a female teenager of all time.
80s teen sensation Tiffany ("I Think We’re Alone Now") was unavailable for comment on whether or not she was now considering getting implants in the wake of Spears’s recent commercial success.
